What is your favorite BRUNATE Barolo?

Brunate is a MGA vineyard site that covers both La Morra and #Barolo with approx. Divided into approximately 15 different parcels owned by different wineries. Wines from this cru are generally very long living with great depth.

💪🏼It is one of the larger vineyard MGAs in Barolo with mixed soil types depending on the parcel

☀️ The exposure is predominately SouthEast and the ridge can go up to nearly 400 mts which can be an advantage in warmer vintages

🍝I know you are all recovering from food comas but I just wanted to ask if you have ever tasted the Piemontese agnolotti called “plin”?

🤌This week we are staying put and spending quality time with the kids:) Making plin is so fun because they have to be “pinched” (plin in dialect). If you are bored and want to give them a try let me know and I can send you a recipe!

🧀With spinach and ricotta filling and butter sauce I would pair with a white fruity Arneis like one from @angelo_negro_winery coming from our last wine club selection!

🎄I’ve aways enjoyed Christmas Eve more than Christmas itself. I loved the personal moments with a tighter group of relatives, Christmas Eve mass, driving around to see the lights 🕯and opening that one little gift 🎁the night before. The build up was part of the fun and now we are trying to form our own new family traditions!

I pulled a special 🍷Barbaresco from the cellar by @cascinadellerose (2011) that I have been holding on to for the right moment! The vineyard “3 stars” seemed appropriate for the Christmas spirit and it did not disappoint! This may even beat out the wine tomorrow, just like Christmas Eve can be even more exciting than Christmas itself!

I recently took a quick trip to visit @italiannawinetours and learn more about my favorite Italian wine, Barolo! This trip has been postponed for over a year and I finally was able to make it happen. The views, the towns, the wineries, the people, the food and the truffles! Everything and everyone I met were amazing. This trip was far too short. I have a good feeling I will be coming back very soon!

When receiving a Barbera is just as special as getting a Barolo…

@elvio_cogno ‘s Barbera is a RARE treat!! You see that “pre-phylloxera” written on there? Some of these vines date back before phylloxera wiped out the vines in the beginning of the 20th century! Some say when you drink a wine with original rootstocks, the wine tastes different, perhaps like it did in the past. This tastes pretty damn good!

People often ask me, “How is your wine club different?” And that’s a great question!

I don’t really consider myself just a wine curator or wine guide because it means so much more to me than that!

This week I had 2 different wine club members visit our area and I like to think of all our members as FRIENDS! I want them to think of me as simply a friend on site who can find them cool stuff and welcome them with open arms when they visit Langhe Piemonte!

Just over 1.5 hours away from the Langhe, the vines disappear and you find orchards and orchards of fruit before reaching the Alps! Today we walked amongst different kind of fruit plants with reddish color branches.

🚵‍♀️First stop, direction west to the mountains - Pasticceria for : Panettone, Baba, chocolates etc.

🍫Cuneo downtown: handmade torrone, hazelnut discs, dark choc with hazelnuts

🎁East - Fossano to get boxes, oh no the panettone don’t fit in any boxes!!!

🥵12:00 Claudio starts cutting boxes, bubble wrapping etc

🍄Head East in Roero for truffle products - pieces are missing

📦Alba - Need to find shipping boxes - No right sizes

😐Wait for friend to arrive from USA in parking lot, 2 hours late

🍷Up the hill to Castiglione for a wine business meeting

😩12:00 midnight Claudio finishes packing

🍷Tasting Barolos at @revellofratelli is always

🍷Tasting Barolos at @revellofratelli is always a special treat! You often get to meet the whole family and try multiple Barolos in one sitting.

Today we tried:
*️⃣ Barolo Gattera 2017- Large oak barrels
Ripe red fruits with beautiful freshness
*️⃣ Barolo Conca 2017 smallest cru in La Morra with full south exposure. Often picked first in respect to their other crus, aged in small casks, this showed darker fruit and more body but still very bright
*️⃣ Barolo Giachini 2015 made in French casks coming from slightly higher altitude than Conca. Incredible juicy ripe red fruits on both nose and palate. Yum!
*️⃣ Barolo Ceretta 2015 aged part in small and part in big from different soils in Serralunga. At first this was the tightest but once it opened it showed beautiful layers of dark fruits, minerals, spice, and balsamic notes. It kept changing minute by minute … amazing!

👅It is incredible how fun it can be to taste a variety of flavors and expressions from just 1 winery and basically 1 village.
