The fun continues…🥳

🍇Here we are learning about the Serralunga crus that go into @cantinapalladino Barolos. I love that @lavero_palladino explains that Barolo classico, Barolo del Comune and Barolo single vineyard wines should all be on the same level and not be considered as starting from basic and going up a quality scale. In fact, We all loved the Barolo Comune di Serralunga and as a matter of fact in the classic 2018, the riserva vineyard can be found!🏆

I have been on a Barolo 2018 vintage tasting marathon 🍷and I can honestly say these Barolos are some of the best I have tasted so far! If you can find them, buy without hesitation🤗

❓What is a “cantina comunale”?
- A cantina (winery) comunale (township) is a fantastic place where the village wine shop only represents labels and wineries from that particular town. Usually there is not much of a price mark up since their purpose is to be a sort of wine representative/showcase for the town.

❓Why go to a cantina comunale?
- You can get a sense of terroir by tasting multiple producers all from the same village and get great prices if you would like to purchase.

♦️@cantinalamorra one of the best of all time with very knowledgeable staff @langhegirl @schelli_fra great selection of wines and tasting events

@la_cantinetta_di_barun is a great spot for good wines 🍷and good company in a picturesque setting in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Neive. Here we did an interesting comparison between @francoroccaneive 2015 and @luisa_rocca (Bruno Rocca) Barbarescos. Highly recommend this place if you are ever in Neive!🍇

🙌🏻RESTAURANT ALERT!🙌🏻Props to the relatively new restaurant in #Barolo La Locanda La Gemella.

Owned by 🍷@viberti_giovanni you can obviously find a fantastic wine list and very nice staff

Menu: 🍽 Interesting twists on the classic Piedmontese dishes including vegetables and fish

Price: 💵 extremely reasonable for such high quality and attentive service

This is exactly what Barolo needed!

🍷🍷 I brought this @piero_busso 2010 Barbaresco to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary - usually you can not do this at restaurants but there were no other 2010s on the menu

Did you know that Dolcetto used to be blended with Nebbiolo? It was so common they called it a Dolcetto “Nebbiolato” like you can see here at @azienda.agricola.cagliero . I just love this word which would be something like Nebbiolized -
- “Dolcetto… you’ve been Nebbiolized!”

💚Nico gets enthusiastic about anything with pistachio while I prefer berry jam or plain.

🍑For some reason in Italy the standard is apricot jam (which is often too sweet for me!) or chocolate/nutella!

🌼It’s starting to happen in Barbaresco which oddly may be slightly behind the flowering in Barolo due to more rainfall🌧 a few weeks ago. This is a very delicate period where you want the weather to be good so you have even berry set 🍇for the growing season!

Can’t wait to see what the 22 vintage will bring! 💪🏼

🔭This week I had the chance to revisit @princip

🔭This week I had the chance to revisit @principianoferdinando and fell in love all over again with these wines.

🧑‍🌾Maximum respect for this winery who makes healthy, balanced, nuanced and respectful wines that truly reflect the terroir. Decades ago Ferdinando was making wine with standard methods and more chemical treatments until he found himself with health problems and the inability to hug his kids after working in the vineyard until he took a shower. Now he has made a change (for the better) and gone the opposite direction. While always thinking about the ecosystem, he uses minimal sulfites and gets quite close to biodynamic philosophies yet doesn’t get trapped in dogmas and rigid rules.

🍷Could this be a new entry in our club?🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess you’ll just have to wait and find out till Fall!

🥾On my days off, we love going to the mountains for some peaceful scenery, change of landscape and nature! This place is only 50 minutes from my house while the Langhe is 35. If you have enough time in Langhe, make sure you take one day trip to the Alpine valleys
